April Meeting - Table Topics
As homeschooling parents, we cannot be all things to our kids. Over the years, our families have benefited a great deal from the diversity of expertise and experience of other families in our group. On the flip side, we all come into this journey of homeschooling with previous lives and individual giftings, so we have a lot that we can share. Whether your background helped you to design a particular module of science, your travels helped inspire an interest in a period of history or somewhere in the world, or your hobby helped teach a skill, we would love to hear from you. The discussions would be so lively and interesting if everyone shares and we have breakout rooms to rotate through.
The idea is that you can teach us something, so that we can teach our kids. For example, in our previous Table Topics meetings, members showed us how to make a model of cells using gelatin and candies, incorporating history and science with models, soap-making to teach acid-base chemistry and teach writing skills through editing. No idea is too obvious or too complicated! It would be great to have ideas suitable for young and older children to inspire parents of all school-age children.
Also, people have shared resources that they have created or recommended, so please be ready with your file or link for people who may want a copy of your handouts. Even co-op lessons or groups can be birthed from this sharing. The possibilities are endless when we open up to each other.
Please contact us with your willingness to share, so that we can organize the breakout rooms accordingly by April 10th.
We are excited to be inspired by the many great ideas!
